You can't eat fried chicken and read an e-book, at least not an IPad, according to one disgruntled e-reader. Apparently when you're reading a book on one of these particular gizmos, you must swipe your finger across the screen as if flipping an actual page (much better than pressing a button to flip the page). But of course, whereas the page of a real book will absorb the various
oils and particles attached to the finger, the touch screen smudges so that you
find yourself every few pages breath-fogging and wiping the screen,
or else squirting Windex, either of which may cause havoc, sweeping
pages to and fro, losing one's place and such.
Of course, it's not impossible to enjoy a good book without eating fried chicken, but what of our humanity must we give up next for the price of progress and technology?
While we've yet to hear similar complaints from readers who also enjoy popcorn, chocolate or Cheetos, we don't advise such snacking with e-readers. Best just to come down to Turnrow and enjoy a real book, such as Innocent by Scott Turow or The Lonely Polygamist by Brady Udall, both of which we have available in signed first editions ... another quaint benefit of real books.
