We've been blessed by the Christmas rush here at the bookstore. We've been so busy selling and wrapping that we haven't had many opportunities to blog.
If a dark cloud must be spotted amid all the Christmas joy, it has to be the increasing number of people who enjoy sharing their giddy tales of Kindle, always prefacing their excitement with, "I know y'all don't want to hear about this...." It's no secret that independent booksellers cast a wary eye to the e-book market, and it's not just because it portends diminished sales for our modest physical wares. We recently caught author Sherman Alexie on The Colbert Report, and he spoke to the fears that not only independent booksellers, but publishers and authors have admitted to us as well.
So we share this, with the brightest of Christmas cheers and fond hope for the new decade....
